Learning to program : Contributing to opensource

I will try and update this as much as I can.

One way people tell us to be good at programming is contributing to opensource.
A very common problem that I see every new peer asking is, "how do I start?".

Again, a very common answer is, "What opensource products do you use? Go improve them".

Sadly, I could only find one, firefox. Maybe VLC is too, I am not sure. I realize I am happily using the commercial products.

I do not have much use of computer to be honest. Mostly entertainment. Maybe I am in a wrong field, but I am not very convinced of that, because most of the people around me have laptops just for entertainment and word processing once a month.

Maybe that there is an idea for me to work, right there. But its blurry for now. So for now, I am off to openhatch and install some more crapware.
